Access for Masochists

As far as I can tell Microsoft access is designed to be used by masochists. For example, suppose you want to make a 6-page report. Should be fairly easy, right? Just make a report stick 5 page breaks in and you’re done, surely? No. There’s a seemingly arbitrary height limit of 22″ on reports. You’ll have to make a few individual reports, lets say one for each page, and then insert them as subreports into a main report. And then set the “can grow” attribute to true so that they fill the available space. Or you could write a macro that combines them.

I guess it must make sense to someone, somewhere. Maybe it’s a technical limit from earlier versions that’s been carried over to the new versions. Maybe Microsoft are a group of sadists. Who knows?

Out of interest what kind of reporting program are you using? Is it the inbuilt one in access using VB Script? Crystal report? or something else.

    I’m using the inbuilt one.

    *googles crystal report*

After trying to update access (due to an unrelated issue) i’ve come to the conclusion that Microsoft are a bunch of sadists after all.
